The AN308/NL is a direct-coupled dual 8-input linear mixer capable of high-speed summing of either anode or dynode signals from a fast photomultiplier array. The unit is packaged in a single-width NIM module (per TID-20893) for installation in a NIM-standard bin and power supply. Each of the two identical sections of the unit can accept the signals from up to eight sources provided that the sum of their simultaneous signals does not exceed 2V of either polarity on 50 Ohm.  With a nominal gain of unity the summed signals are fanned out through a bridging 2-connector output to be terminated in 50 Ohm. For larger systems the two sections of the AN308/NL can be connected to serve as one 16-input linear mixer. The wide dynamic range of the unit allows its outputs to be used for large majority logic functions.  The inputs of the AN308/NL provide good 50 Ohm termination with low reflections from fast transient signals.  A high degree of input protection is provided to accommodate large overloads without damage.  The output is noninverting, and for fast rising input signals the output rise-time limits at 2 nSec with minimum overshoot and distortion.  The unit is completely dc-coupled and its input and output offsets are sufficiently stable for several sections to be cascaded.
